One day, I was letting my user, Angel, calm down after a mild episode. I turned on a Tinker Bell video to let her watch. I still had the EagleEyes system on and I could see her eyes following tinker bell on the screen. I used this time to calibrate the system because in this instance I knew where she should be looking and was able to get the best calibration I ever have. We went on to do several activities with good precision.
From this I realized that it allowed the electrodes time to warm up, and allowed the user to adjust to having them on her face because she was distracted by the video, which gave me time to calibrate without her getting frustrated. Sometimes if I start an activity before the system is warmed up and calibrated it just frustrates little Angel and she gives up for the day.
Yes, it takes several minutes for the box to warm up and settle down. It also takes several minutes for the electrodes - skin connection to become electro-chemically stable. If you can turn on the box 5 minutes ahead of time and let the electrodes sit on the skin for 5 minutes before using the system I think the quality of the EagleEyes session will be much better.
